The “Geofesta” aims at promoting geography and the history of the territory through the organization of geography-themed exhibitions, informative talks and conferences, workshops addressed to students of any age and grade, “geo-games”, training courses for teachers, guided visits of cultural heritage sites and other activities for families and for all citizens.

The “Geofesta” will take place from 7 to 9 April 2022 in the city of Cortona, thanks to an interdisciplinary working group including the LabGeo of the University of Florence and the Cortona’s Association “ONTHEMOVE”, in collaboration with institutions and associations from the Cortona’s and Arezzo’s areas (e.g.,  the City of Cortona, the Museum of the Etruscan Academy of Cortona [MAEC], the  Association of Archaeological Museum of Tuscany [AMAT], Etruria Volo, the  association “Nuovo Gruppo Astrofili Arezzo”,  the FIAB/Arezzo Association and the Theater  “L. Signorelli”).

There will be a wide variety of initiatives such as workshops for primary and secondary schools in the MAEC’s Archaeological Area, guided visits of the city of Cortona organized by the students of the IIS “Luca Signorelli” in Cortona, a training course “Story Maps: a teaching tool” for teachers at any level and grade, guided visits to the international photographic festival “Cortona OnTheMove”, evening events on geography and on the Cortona’s territory, and many other activities.
